Protect your solar from Pigeons and other invasive pests.
Damage from Squirrels chewing wires under solar panels.
Animal Friendly
We are not exterminators. If pigeons are present, they will typically fly away while we work. We’ll clean out any nests do a quick inspection and install the critter guard. After a day or two your pigeons will move on to another location.
Squirrels are some of the best mothers in nature and always have multiple nests. If there are young ones present, the mothers will evacuate them very quickly once we have started working on the roof.

Critter Guard
There are ways to safely evict these animals from your solar before they cause damage to your array, but the damage that they can cause to your system is real. Squirrels can and will chew the wiring under your system. If left under your panels long enough they will eventually chew through the panel leads, micro-inverters and the trunk cable. We’ve had to replace 90% of the wiring on a couple systems where squirrels were allowed to live for a while before the homeowner called us. Coupled with the dry tinder of nests, you can have an extreme fire hazard very quickly.
Pigeons don’t damage the solar panels as much as the roof. But if they’re allowed to live and procreate under your array over time, there can be up to twenty or more animals living as well as dying, and multiple nests just within the second year. Their nests, feces and broken eggs rot over time causing damage to roof shingles and other roofing materials.

Our Products
We install a couple different types of critter guard. The first is a fairly new product called SolaTrim. The second is a PVC coated wire mesh product. Both products will keep squirrels or pigeons from nesting and living under your solar panels. SolaTrim has a more sleek and clean appearance. For aesthetic purposes we recommend using it on arrays that are highly visible from the front of your house or that are otherwise on display. The mesh critter guard has been a tried and true method for almost a decade and is also fairly invisible to the eye..
